Frequently asked questions

Plain-English answers about Mintelier, 1/1 NFTs, MetaMask, provenance, minting, bids and account safety.

  • Mintelier
    What is Mintelier?
    +
Mintelier is a curated Ethereum-based marketplace built specifically for traditional artists. We turn original works into authenticated 1/1 NFTs and handle the technical layer (wallets, gas, smart contracts) so artists can focus on creating.
  • Mintelier
    Why was Mintelier built?
    +
Most NFT platforms were designed by technologists for crypto-natives. Mintelier was built for artists who want the provenance and reach of blockchain without learning the entire stack. We curate quality over quantity and protect each artist's voice.
  • Mintelier
Who can list work on Mintelier?
    +
Any verified artist accepted through our curation process. Submit your portfolio from the Artists page and our team reviews submissions to keep the marketplace high signal.
  • Mintelier
How is Mintelier different from open marketplaces?
    +
We curate every artist and every drop. Instead of millions of unrelated assets competing for attention, collectors discover meaningful, vetted work with a verifiable trail of authenticity.
  • Mintelier
    Does Mintelier custody my funds?
    +
Yes. Mintelier runs an internal ETH ledger. You deposit ETH to a unique address assigned to your account, and the platform settles mints, bids, sales and royalties instantly without on-chain gas for every action.
  • Mintelier
    What fees does Mintelier charge?
    +
A small mint fee is deducted from your wallet at mint time. Secondary sales pay creator royalties (set at mint, between 3% and 20%) plus a transparent marketplace fee. All fees are displayed before you confirm any action.
  • 1/1 NFTs
    What is a 1/1 NFT?
    +
A 1/1 (one of one) NFT is a unique digital certificate of ownership for a single, original work. Just as an original painting exists once, a 1/1 NFT preserves that uniqueness on the blockchain. There is only one.
  • 1/1 NFTs
Is the NFT the artwork itself?
    +
No. The NFT is the certificate of authenticity and ownership. The artwork is the image, video or file it points to. Owning the NFT means owning the verified original record of that work.
  • 1/1 NFTs
Why mint as 1/1 instead of editions?
    +
1/1s preserve scarcity and align with how traditional fine art is valued. Mintelier focuses on 1/1 because it respects the years artists invest in building a distinct, original practice.
  • 1/1 NFTs
What is the Mintelier ID on each artwork?
    +
Every minted piece carries a unique six character alphanumeric Mintelier ID, shown on its detail page. Use it for provenance lookups and authenticity verification.
  • Provenance
    What is provenance?
    +
Provenance is the documented history of an artwork. Who made it, when, and every owner since. On Mintelier this history is recorded automatically and cannot be edited or erased.
  • Provenance
    How does Mintelier guarantee authenticity?
    +
The original mint is signed by the verified artist's account. Every subsequent sale, bid, and ownership transfer is logged atomically. The Owner field on each artwork always reflects the current rightful holder.
  • Provenance
    Can ownership records be altered?
    +
No. The chain of custody is append only. Once a transaction is written it is permanent and publicly verifiable.
  • Provenance
How do royalties work on resale?
    +
At mint you set a royalty between 3% and 20%. Every secondary sale routes that share back to you automatically. No claim, no chase, no missed payments.
  • Provenance
How do I verify a piece I want to buy?
    +
Open the artwork's detail page. The golden ID bar displays the Mintelier ID, the current Owner, the original creator, royalty percentage, and full bid and sale history.
  • MetaMask
Do I need MetaMask to use Mintelier?
    +
Not for everyday use. Your Mintelier wallet works on our internal ledger. MetaMask becomes useful when you want to deposit ETH from outside, withdraw to a self custodial wallet, or move artwork off platform later.
  • MetaMask
    What is MetaMask?
    +
MetaMask is a self custodial digital wallet that lets you hold ETH and NFTs and connect to Web3 apps. Think of it as your personal vault and identity on the blockchain.
  • MetaMask
How do I create a MetaMask wallet?
    +
Download MetaMask from metamask.io or your device's official app store. Open it, choose Create a New Wallet, set a strong password, then carefully record the 12 word Secret Recovery Phrase it shows you.
  • MetaMask
What is a Seed Phrase and why does it matter?
    +
Your Seed Phrase (also called Secret Recovery Phrase) is the master key to your wallet. Anyone with it controls everything inside. Write it on paper, store it offline in a safe place, and never share it with anyone. Not friends, not support, not Mintelier.
  • MetaMask
How should I store my Seed Phrase?
    +
Write it by hand on paper or stamp it onto a metal backup plate. Keep at least two copies in separate secure locations such as a home safe and a bank deposit box. Never screenshot it, save it in notes apps, email it, or upload it to the cloud.
  • MetaMask
What happens if I lose my Seed Phrase?
    +
If you lose it and the device too, recovery is essentially impossible. No company, exchange, or support team, including MetaMask itself, can restore access. Safeguarding it is the single most important responsibility of self custody.
  • MetaMask
Will Mintelier ever ask for my Seed Phrase?
    +
Never. No legitimate platform will. If anyone (by email, DM, fake site, or so called support agent) asks for your Seed Phrase, it is a scam. Walk away.
  • Funding
How do I fund my MetaMask wallet?
    +
Buy ETH on a regulated exchange like Coinbase or Kraken, then withdraw to your MetaMask address. PayPal and ACH bank transfers are supported in some regions, either via the exchange or directly inside MetaMask's Buy tab.
  • Funding
How do I fund my Mintelier wallet?
    +
Open Wallet from the Account menu and claim your unique deposit address. Send ETH from MetaMask, an exchange, or any external wallet. Once confirmed and reconciled, your balance updates automatically.
  • Funding
What network should I use when depositing?
    +
Always Ethereum mainnet unless explicitly told otherwise. Sending on the wrong network can delay or permanently lose funds. Double check the network in your sending app before confirming.
  • Funding
Should I send a test transaction first?
    +
Yes, always. The first time you use a new address, send a small amount, confirm it arrives, then transfer the rest. Blockchain transactions are irreversible.
  • Basics
    What is a blockchain?
    +
A blockchain is a public, append only digital ledger. Every transaction is permanent, transparent, and cannot be altered. This makes it ideal for proving who created an artwork, when, and who currently owns it.
  • Basics
    What are gas fees?
    +
Gas fees are small payments to the blockchain network for processing transactions like minting or transferring an NFT. They fluctuate with network demand. On Mintelier, most everyday actions happen on our internal ledger with no per action gas.
  • Basics
    What is a smart contract?
    +
A smart contract is a self executing agreement written in code on the blockchain. When the conditions are met, for example when payment is received, it automatically transfers ownership and records the result. No intermediary needed.
  • Minting
How do I mint a work?
    +
Go to Mint, upload your image, set category, royalty (between 3% and 20%) and optional sale price. A small mint fee is debited from your Mintelier wallet. Your piece appears in My Collection immediately with its Mintelier ID.
  • Minting
Can I edit a piece after minting?
    +
Provenance fields such as creator, mint date and ID are immutable. You can adjust sale listing, price and description from the artwork's detail page as the current owner.
  • Bids
    How do bids work?
    +
Place a bid and the amount is debited from your Mintelier balance and held in escrow. If the seller accepts, ownership transfers and funds release. If they reject, you cancel, or the listing closes, funds return to you in full.
  • Bids
How do I see bids on my artwork?
    +
Open the artwork's detail page. As the owner you see every active bid with Accept and Reject buttons. Accept settles the sale and credits your wallet. Reject returns the escrowed ETH to the bidder. Your dashboard also surfaces all bids received and bids placed across your collection.
  • Bids
    Can I withdraw a bid I placed?
    +
Yes. Open the artwork and use the Withdraw button next to your active bid. The escrowed ETH returns to your Mintelier wallet immediately.
  • Bids
    Why was my bid rejected?
    +
Sellers can decline any bid at their discretion. Common reasons include a higher competing offer, a target reserve not met, or a decision to keep the work. Your escrowed funds are returned immediately.
  • Sales
What happens when I sell a piece?
    +
Ownership transfers to the buyer, the Owner field updates, your royalty rate is locked in for all future resales, and proceeds (minus royalties and marketplace fee) land in your Mintelier wallet.
  • Account
How do I stay signed in?
    +
Sessions persist on your device and refresh automatically. You stay signed in across visits until you explicitly log out from the Account menu.
  • Account
Where do I manage my profile?
    +
Open My Profile from the Account menu. You can upload an avatar, set your bio and unique profile link, change password, manage socials, and submit KYC documents. All in one place.
  • KYC
    Why do I need KYC?
    +
Identity verification unlocks higher withdrawal limits and protects the marketplace from fraud. Submit documents from your Profile page. Reviews typically complete within 48 hours.
  • KYC
    Are my KYC documents secure?
    +
Yes. Documents are encrypted at rest and accessible only to trained admins for the duration of review. They are never shared with other users or third parties.
  • Withdrawals
    How do withdrawals work?
    +
Request a withdrawal from Wallet with your destination ETH address. Our finance team reviews and broadcasts it on chain. You receive a notification with the transaction reference once it ships.
  • Safety
    How do I avoid scams?
    +
Never share your Seed Phrase, password, or private keys. Never enter your Seed Phrase on a website. Ignore anyone promising to double your crypto. Verify URLs carefully and bookmark Mintelier rather than clicking links from messages.
  • Safety
What if I see suspicious activity on my account?
    +
Log out of all sessions from My Profile, change your password immediately, and contact support through the Account menu. If you suspect your external wallet is compromised, move assets to a fresh wallet with a new Seed Phrase.

Still stuck? Reach support from the Account menu.
